Fire Mountain Trails

The trail system is located adjacent to the existing Oconaluftee Indian Village and the Mountainside Theatre. Johnson Architecture has been working with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) to develop a cohesive master plan that creates an iconic trailhead for the increased traffic that this new development has generated. As part of the overall master plan, JAI has designed a new Trailhead Station that will provide a needed rest area and supply depot for hikers, bikers and visitors of all kinds.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Strategically positioned at a midpoint in the existing parking area on a steeply sloping site, the Trailhead Station will provide an upper accessible entry and a lower-level entry accessible with stairs. The main feature will be a balcony overlook with chairs and fire pits that are focused on views to the south of Spray Ridge and beyond.
