Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center – Linear Accelerator Suite
JAI partnered with Messer Construction Co. and Tennova North Knoxville Medical Center to design a new treatment suite for the installation of an Elekta Evo™ linear accelerator (LINAC) integrated with the Brainlab ExacTrac® patient positioning system. As the first facility in the Southeast to implement this advanced radiation therapy technology, the project required a high degree of interdisciplinary coordination to integrate sophisticated clinical equipment within an operational healthcare environment. The design team collaborated closely with hospital leadership, equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants, and the construction team to address the stringent architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage requirements associated with the installation. The treatment vault incorporates specialized radiation shielding, while the supporting structure and building systems were engineered to satisfy the equipment's demanding performance criteria, environmental requirements, and installation tolerances. Constructed within an active medical center, the project required careful planning and phased implementation to minimize disruption to adjacent clinical services while maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations. The completed facility reflects JAI's expertise in delivering complex healthcare environments where technical precision, multidisciplinary coordination, and patient-centered planning support the successful integration of advanced medical technology.
