Grace Performing Arts Center

Knoxville, Tennessee

JAI has teamed with Grace Baptist Church to design a multi-functional performing arts center on its northwest Knoxville campus. The facility will serve as the home for the Grace Performing Arts Center (GPAC) ministry, which offers arts education to students of all ages, and as a support hub for the broader campus, including Grace Baptist Church and Grace Christian Academy.

The facility features a double-height reception and lobby area, providing a welcoming space for guests to gather before and after events or while waiting during lessons. At the heart of the building is a tiered recital hall, designed as a fully acoustic venue with flexible seating for over 200 people. This space includes an elevated performance platform, a dedicated lighting control booth, and backstage amenities such as a staff office and green room. For arts instruction, the center offers 13 individual practice rooms tailored for one-on-one music lessons and three large multi-purpose rooms that can function independently or combine to accommodate larger group activities, such as dance rehearsals.

The performing arts center’s location on the campus allowed Grace Baptist Church to address a logistical challenge with the K-2 drop-off line. A new canopy at the rear of the building has been designed to streamline the process and provide additional covered space for students to wait comfortably and safely.

This thoughtfully designed facility supports both GPAC’s mission to provide high-quality arts education and the larger community it serves.
