Johnson Architecture has hired Simone Hashmi as an intern architect.
“We’re pleased to have Simone join our team,” said Jeff Williamson, president of Johnson Architecture. “She has already built a strong foundation, and we’re excited to support her as she continues to develop her career and we know she’ll be a great addition to our team.”

Hashmi earned a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) and a bachelor’s degree in Hispanic studies and sustainability from the University of Tennessee, where she also served as a graduate teaching assistant. Prior to joining Johnson Architecture, Hashmi gained experience through architectural practice and internships focused on design, sustainability, and construction.
“I’ve always seen architecture as a way to connect with different communities,” Hashmi said. “Joining Johnson Architecture is a great opportunity to learn from an experienced team that values collaboration and mentorship. I’m excited to continue growing as a designer while contributing to projects that make a lasting impact.”
Before joining JAI, Hashmi contributed to a variety of civic and educational projects, including the Clay County Public Library, Mitchell County Schools Central Office, Sam Houston Elementary School, and the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture Protein Innovation Center. She has completed four of the six Architecture Registration Examinations (ARE) and is actively pursuing architectural licensure. She hopes to continue building experience in mixed-use, civic, and housing design.
Hashmi is currently contributing to the design of a new attraction scheduled to open at Kentucky Kingdom in 2027. She is excited to broaden her experience by working on a variety of project types at JAI.
A native and resident of Old North Knox, Hashmi has volunteered as an English as a second language instructor with Centro Hispano de East TN and enjoys playing soccer, sewing, learning other languages, and sitting on patios.
