Knoxville News Sentinel: Pat Summitt clinic’s design keeps Alzheimer’s patients in mind

The Pat Summitt Alzheimer’s Clinic ultimately has one long-term goal: Deal Alzheimer’s and other dementias a blow so hard, no families will ever have to suffer their devastation again.

But in the meantime, the clinic, scheduled to open in December at University of Tennessee Medical Center, is being designed to make its patients and their families as comfortable as possible.

Danielle Hemsley, director of business development for Johnson Architecture, said the firm, which submitted a proposal and won the bid to design the $2 million clinic, is up to the challenge.
