For more than two decades, Jeffrey “Jeff” A. Williamson has helped shape places where people gather, learn, celebrate, and create lasting memories. As an architect, mentor, and president of Johnson Architecture, he believes the firm’s greatest success is measured not only by the buildings it designs, but by the relationships it builds and the communities it serves. His collaborative leadership, steady approach, and quick sense of humor have earned the trust of clients, colleagues, and project teams.
Named president of Johnson Architecture in 2026, Jeff now leads the firm’s day-to-day operations while helping guide its long-term vision. His professional work has centered on themed entertainment, hospitality, and education, with projects for clients including Dollywood, Kentucky Kingdom, Knoxville Catholic High School, and Zoo Knoxville. He also supports the firm’s work in healthcare, civic, residential, and master planning. Jeff enjoys helping clients navigate complex decisions, bringing diverse voices together around a shared vision, and seeing ideas grow into places that strengthen communities for years to come.
Equally important to Jeff is investing in the future of the profession. He helped establish the Johnson Architecture Endowed Scholarship in partnership with the University of Tennessee College of Architecture + Design, which has supported 13 students through scholarships and professional enrichment opportunities since its creation in 2021. He previously chaired the AIA East Tennessee Mentorship Program, continues to serve as a guest juror for architecture studios at the University of Tennessee, and serves on the Clayton-Bradley Innovative Education Partnership Board. Through classroom design activities and mentorship, he enjoys introducing students to architecture, encouraging creativity and critical thinking, and helping young people discover careers they may never have imagined.
A Knoxville News Sentinel 40 Under 40 honoree in 2017, Jeff is most proud of the relationships he has built with clients, colleagues, students, and the communities they serve. Whether leading Johnson Architecture, mentoring an aspiring architect, or working alongside a client, he remains committed to strengthening the profession while creating places that enrich everyday life.
Originally from Southwest Virginia, Jeff earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee. He and his wife, Karen, enjoy renovating older homes, traveling, and spending time with their two children.
