Get to Know: Jeremiah Corbett

December 9, 2019

Jeremiah Corbett, AIA Associate, NCARB, LEED Green Associate, joined JAI in 2018.

What is your role at JAI?

Intern architect/personal mover of JAI.

What three words best describe you?

Tall, caring and goofy.

What is your favorite aspect of being on the JAI team?

Working on multiple projects with different people. The work environment at JAI promotes collaboration and is very beneficial to everyone in the office.

What three words best describe the culture at JAI?

Respectful, motivating and empathetic.

What has been your proudest moment to date working at JAI?

Working on the design for the new Knoxville Catholic High School Auditorium was an exciting process of designing the new arts theater, learning a new rendering program and knowing that the project will be a great addition to the school.

How has working at JAI enhanced your professional development?

JAI has helped me start my career and continue my growth as an emerging professional, with everyone here allowing me to ask questions and learn more about what everyone does on a daily basis.

What or who is your go-to source for work inspiration?

My fiancée, Alexa, works as product designer. She works very hard on whatever task she is given, and she works in a different field of design. She is always working on something interesting.

If you could switch places for a day with any JAI team member, which one would you choose?

Probably Joey Staats. I always wanted to know what files are inside the Z drive, and I’m sure he is the only one that has access to it.

Before joining JAI, what was the most unusual job you held? What made it so?

I worked at the Cheesecake Factory and at Little Caesars making pizzas. I have probably made over 5,000 pizzas in my life and have eaten about half that much.

What do you look most forward to at the end of a workday?

Playing with my corgis, Watson and Oliver! Every time I come home, they act like I’ve been gone for a year.

If you were stranded alone on an island, what three material possessions would you hope to have with you?

Watson, Oliver and a good basketball so we would never get bored.

What is your secret talent?

Sorry, I can’t tell. It’s a secret!

What is your favorite place in the world?

Florence. I remember lying next to the Arno River and eating slices of pizza at 10 a.m. Nothing beats cold pizza in Italy.

What are you currently watching or reading?

I usually watch some kind of cringe humor, but right now I’m enjoying The Mandalorian on Disney+.
