Get to Know: Brandy Hatmaker

April 6, 2019

Brandy Hatmaker joined JAI in 2005.

What is your role at JAI?

Drafting the plans, coloring the renderings, fixing the computers, finding the things but, most importantly, mayor of Brandyland!

What three words best describe you?

Jeans, fleece and sneakers.

What is your favorite aspect of being on the JAI team?

The team functions more like a family. Some are like brothers and sisters, others more like the eccentric cousin or aunt. But everyone is part of the family, and it’s awesome.

What three words best describe the culture at JAI?

Fun, creative and family-first.

Who are your go-to sources for work inspiration?

Emily Haire and Jimmy Ryan. Both are super creative and graphically minded (and young!). I love to work through projects with them and have learned a lot from them.

If you could switch places for a day with any JAI team member, which one would you choose?

No chance! I have the best job in the office.

Before joining JAI, what was the most enjoyable job you held?

At 15, I had a summer job at Baskin-Robbins that was pretty fun. I have been married to one of my Baskin-Robbins co-workers for 20 years now. He was really cute in that sun visor and apron!

What do you look most forward to at the end of a workday?

Back porch sittin’!

If you were stranded alone on an island, what three material possessions would you hope to have with you?

Sunscreen, sunglasses and carbs!

What is your secret talent?

I don’t think it’s a secret or necessarily a talent, but I love to do yard work.

What is your favorite place in the world?

Home! I love to be home with my family more than any vacation spot anywhere.

What are you currently watching or reading?

It is baseball season y’all. I’m not watching or reading anything!
