Master Planning

Rowan Nature Center

Client: Rowan Nature Center
Year: 2005

After a thorough design charrette and subsequent master plan for this well-established and locally funded nature center, JAI was retained to provide full architectural services for several new park exhibits. The centerpiece of the new design is a one-half acre natural habitat and den for the park’s long-time Black Bear residents, Lollie and Nicki. New circulation paths and interactive opportunities await visitors around each turn, linking such exhibits as Bald Eagle, Bobcat and Red Wolf. The existing nature center building was converted into a functional new naturalistic environment with a full, freshwater aquarium. Exhibit design partner was Total Habitat of Wichita, Kansas.
