Clayton Lodge and Retreat

Johnson Architecture provided master planning and design services for the new Corporate Training Facility Lodge and Retreat for Clayton Homes in 2016. Known as Clayton Lodge, the training and lodging venue is located on a 10-acre site within the boundaries of Clayton Headquarters’ 174-acre campus. The design was carefully sited on the property to minimize the construction footprint and offer the impression that it has been nestled in the trees for years. The lodge, which overlooks Mt. LeConte, contains 26,000 square feet with multiple training rooms and a large dining room that can be used for corporate retreats or large private events. The design also includes a 2,200-square-foot outdoor pavilion, 400-square-foot outdoor bar and restroom facilities and a large beer garden in a new tree grove. There are many outdoor gathering spaces dispersed throughout the training and lodging facility. The site also includes 19 cabins nestled in the trees that can lodge 64 visitors during events.
