Anderson Hall, Maryville College

Client: Maryville College
Year: 2014

The iconic Anderson Hall, long identified as the ‘anchor’ of Maryville College’s campus, had reached the point of inefficiency and was in dire need of renovation. The process began with multiple “end-user” programming meetings that allowed JAI to determine the full and most efficient uses for this central classroom location. New layouts were developed that provided multiple and flexible classroom options as well as new support functions such as an elevator, stairs, and restrooms. Structural deficiencies were corrected and new building envelope considerations such as building insulation and energy efficient windows were made. An outdoor classroom/amphitheater was also added. After 144 years in use, Anderson Hall proudly stands ready for another 150 years.
